Dawn Delgado, MS, LMFT, CEDS-S

National Director of Operations, Outpatient Eating Disorder

Dawn Delgado, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and an EMDR trained trauma specialist. She holds both her CEDS, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and CEDS-S Supervisor designation through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.  Dawn has dedicated herself to working with adolescents and adults recovering from eating disorders and co-occurring mental health issues for over 15 years.

In addition, to her lengthy tenure at Center For Discovery, she has directed and been instrumental in developing residential, partial hospitalization/day treatment, intensive outpatient, and transitional living programs. Trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), she incorporates this form of trauma treatment in her private practice, Inspire Evolve, and into the clinical programming at Center For Discovery.  An active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), she is a former chair member of the Los Angeles chapter. Dawn has a passion for yoga and travel and has served as a consultant to clinics and hospitals in Bali, Singapore, Java, and Dubai.

East Coast Assistant Director of ED Outpatient Services

Kelsey M. Latimer, PhD, LP became the first college graduate in her family in 2001, double majoring in anthropology and psychology at the University of Rhode Island and receiving the university’s annual president award/excellence award in both disciplines.  Dr. Latimer’s passion for research and the health/wellness of children and young adults led her to furthering her education, earning her doctorate and masters of science degrees from the University of North Texas, with emphases in child/adolescent development and neuropsychology. Throughout her doctoral training, Dr. Latimer became extremely passionate in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders, completing her research in this area, as well as pursuing specialized clinical training with preceptorships in disordered eating and administration/training during her APA-accredited predoctoral-internship. 

Since that time, Dr. Latimer joined a pediatric hospital and medical school to continue devoting her career to the development of eating disorder intervention programs at all levels of care, training future professionals in the field and acting as an advisory board member to healthy body movements including Healthy is the New Skinny.  In addition, she comes with a strong managerial/leadership background and uses a compassionate leadership model in growing talented team members.  She has presented at over 50 regional/national/international conferences, written many articles and been featured in print/online magazines on the topic of body image and training/administration, and is currently completing a book on the principles of effective eating disorder treatment scheduled for publishing in 2017.  Dr. Latimer is thrilled that these experiences have led her to her next step on her professional journey of empowering young people to fight against eating disorders by joining the Center For Discovery as the new East Coast Assistant Director of ED Outpatient Services!

East Coast Supervisor of Outpatient Dietary Services

Jacquelyn has been working with eating disorders since 2015, where she gained experience at an inpatient, residential and partial hospitalization program as a clinical dietitian. She earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of Tampa in athletic training and became a certified athletic trainer in 2010. She then went on to her master’s degree in public health and nutrition at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to become a registered dietitian. Jacquelyn has experience in working not only with eating disorders, but substance and alcohol abuse patients as well. Jacquelyn enjoys teaching nutrition principles and providing her clients with the tools they need to improve their relationship with food and exercise.

Clinical Advisor

Elizabeth Carges, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist specializing in evidenced based treatments for the broad spectrum of eating disorders. She also possesses expertise in treating anxiety and trauma-based disorders.

Dr. Carges received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester. She completed her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Her work has been published in multiple journals including The Journal of Men and Masculinity, Clinical Case Studies, and Cognitive Behavioral Practice. Subsequently, she completed her fellowship at the Orlando VA Medical Center where she acquired specialized training for the treatment of PTSD and other complex trauma.

In addition to her current role as Clinical Advisor for Center For Discovery’s Orlando Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs, Dr. Carges currently maintains a private practice in Maitland, FL.

Jennifer Hounshell, LMFT, QS

Program Director

Jennifer graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is passionate about working with disordered eating as this population has previously been underserved. Prior to becoming Program Director Jennifer served as Primary Therapist for Center for Discovery. She has worked as a psychotherapist in a multitude of settings in multiple states across the East coast. Programs include child, adolescent, and adult outpatient, intensive outpatient, on-line therapy, substance abuse, and rehabilitation for pre-release felons.

Jennifer uses a combination of Internal Family Systems, Solution Focused Therapy, and Emotional and Behavior modification. She has dedicated herself to providing effective individual, family, and group therapy to best meet the needs of each client and their support system.

On a personal note, Jennifer is an artist by trade and often implements creativity into her treatment. She enjoys being an athlete and spending her free time with her spouse and two beautiful daughters.

Stan Bogard, LMFT

Primary Therapist
Stan graduated from San Diego State University with a Master of Science in marriage Family Therapy. He has nine years of experience treating clients and his specialty is working with children, adolescents, and their families. Prior to working with the Center for Discovery Orlando outpatient team, Stan worked at the Center for Discovery Residential Treatment Center (RTC) providing group and meal therapy for clients. In addition to his experience working within the field of eating disorders, Stan has been the lead therapist at a general psychiatric hospital and has experience working in the substance abuse field as well. He is skilled in working with adults and adolescents in individual, group, and family therapy contexts.  He has clinical expertise in the fields domestic violence, crisis intervention, anger management, juvenile justice involvement and cultural issues. His areas of interest include clients dealing with life transitions and adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and personal growth.

Stan utilizes a motivational and person-centered approach, focusing on the individualized needs and strengths of the client.  Stan assists each client by working to increase their insight and helping them to learn the necessary skills to manage symptoms and stressors in an effective manner. He believes in the strengths of each and every client he works with!

Registered Dietitian

Ashley Vazquez graduated magna cum laude from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics. She completed her dietetic internship in various settings throughout the state of Kentucky. Ashley is an active member of several professional organizations including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP), and the Behavioral Health Nutrition Dietetics Practice Group. Professionally, Ashley believes that nutrition is essential for wellness of both body and mind, and looks to provide adequate nutritional support and guidance for her clients. She is honored to be a part of the Center For Discovery family.

Psychiatrist

Dr. Karen Leavitt is a double board certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult psychiatrist. She grew up in the Orlando area and completed her bachelor’s degree at UCF, then went on to St. George’s Unversity School of Medicine. She completed her medical training in Chicago, Illinois, her general Psychiatry residency at Loyola University Medical Center, and her Child and Adolescent fellowship at Rush Medical College. She served as chief resident or chief fellow at both institutions and has earned awards for her skills in Teaching and for Clinical Practice and Professionalism. She then worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan and received the Excellence in Teaching Award from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in 2014, prior to her return home to Central Florida. Upon her return home, she worked at La Amistad Behavioral Health Services before starting her private practice, Life Psychiatric Associates. She also currently works at Center for Discovery Eating Disorder Outpatient Program, in their partial hospitalization program. Her interests include ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Substance Use Disorders, Complicated Medication Management, and Disordered Eating.

Facility Coordinator

Stacey Herdegen graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Professionally, Stacey combines her experience in clinical research, cognitive testing, and extensive managerial work with her passion for mental health and well-being. Stacey manages daily operations in the Outpatient program, including: administrative duties, research, group sessions, and clinical documentation.

Program Therapist

Shelby is Center for Discovery’s Program Therapist. She studied at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York for her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Art History. While there, she performed research at the Barnard Center for Toddler Development and worked as an intern in many psychological settings, as well as worked as a preschool teacher. Shelby then went to the University of Central Florida for her graduate degree in Clinical Psychology. She performed her clinical internship at a behavioral hospital on the adolescent unit working with a range of co-occurring diagnoses. Shelby enjoys working with the eating disorder population because of the courage and strength clients show in choosing recovery.

Sara specializes in Community Outreach, Marketing Strategy, and Business Development. Sara is actively involved with the recovery community. This has led her to public speaking, educating healthcare professionals, facilitating support groups, as well as fundraising and advocacy for prevention and improved access to treatment in the Central Florida Community and beyond.
